(8권 4호) 여성 태권도 심판의 삶에 대한 연구_전난희

본 연구의 목적은 여성 태권도 심판으로 살아가면서 경험하는 다양한 삶의 흔적들을 조명해 보고 그 삶에 대한 의미를 탐색하는 데 있다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 현역 여성 태권도 심판 7명을 연구 참여자로 선정하여, 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집한 자료는 사례 기록 및 귀납적 범주 분석을 거쳐 사례별 기록 보고의 과정으로 분석하였으며, 이 과정을 거쳐 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 여성 태권도 심판으로 살아가기의 희(喜) 경험은 심판으로서의 전문성 향상, 주위로부터의 인정으로 탐색되었다. 둘째, 여성 태권도 심판으로 살아가기의 로(怒) 경험은 남성 심판과의 성차별, 심판간의 구별짓기로 탐색되었다. 셋째, 여성 태권도 심판으로 살아가기의 애(哀) 경험은 역할 갈등의 속상함, 보상에 대한 실망감으로 탐색되었다. 넷째, 여성 태권도 심판으로 살아가기의 락(樂) 경험은 가사로부터의 탈출구, 동료 심판과의 연결망으로 탐색되었다. 이상과 같이 여성 태권도 심판들은 희(喜), 로(怒), 애(哀), 락(樂)의 다양한 경험을 통해 다수의 남성 심판들 속에서 소수의 여성 심판이라는 맥을 이어가고 있었다. 여성 태권도 심판으로 살아가는 것은 때론 어렵고 힘들며 서글픔의 경험으로 경기장의 안과 밖에서 나타나고 있었다. 하지만 그럼에도 불구하고 여성 태권도 심판들이 태권도 심판의 삶을 유지하고 이어나가는 것은 부정적인 경험보다는 긍정적인 경험에 더 비중을 두고 있었으며, 여성 태권도 심판이라는 자부심과 긍지 그리고 태권도 심판에 대한 확고한 신념과 소명의식이 있기 때문으로 나타났다.

This study was conducted to examine various life trails that female Taekwondo referees experience and to explore the meanings of those lives. To achieve this purpose, this study targeted seven female Taekwondo Gyeorugi referees to in-depth interviews. The collected were analyzed through case records and inductive category analysis. The study findings are as follows. First, joy experiences of female Taekwondo referees were classified into improvement in professionalism as referees, recognition from surrounding people. Second, anger experiences of female Taekwondo referees were classified into sexual discrimination, differentiation among referees. Third, sorrow experiences of female Taekwondo referees were classified into upset due to role conflicts, disappointment at reward. Fourth, pleasure experiences of female Taekwondo referees were classified into exit from housework, connection with co-referees. As previously mentioned, female Taekwondo referees continue as a few female referees among many male referees through various experiences of joy, anger, sorrow and pleasure. Living as a female Taekwondo referee was sometimes difficult and hard, and it was exposed through inside and outside of the stadium. Nevertheless, female Taekwondo referees were able to continue lives of Taekwondo referees because they regard the positive experience highly more than the negative experience, and they have pride and dignity of female Taekwondo refrees together with the firm faith and the sense of duty in Taekwondo refreeing.
