이 연구에서는 세계태권도본부 국기원, 세계태권도연맹, 대한태권도협회 그리고 태권도진흥재단이 태권도에 관한 정확한 통계.지표를 생산하여 일선 지도자들과 연구자, 정책입안자, 산업종사자들이 활용할 수 있도록 해야 한다는 당위성에서 출발하였으며, 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 국기원에서 생산이 가능한 통계.지표는 국가별 태권도 보급현황을 비롯하여 총 61종의 통계지표 생산이 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 세계태권도연맹에서 생산이 가능한 통계지표는 랭킹 현황을 비롯하여 총 33종의 통계.지표 생산이 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대한태권도협회에서 생산이 가능한 통계.지표는 국내 태권도 도장 종사자 수(지역별)를 비롯하여 총 41종의 통계.지표 생산이 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 태권도진흥재단에 서 생산이 가능한 통계.지표는 태권도 진흥을 위한 각종 지원 사업 현황을 비롯하여 23종의 통계?지표 생산이 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 각 단체에서 통계지표 생산이 원활히 이루어지기 위해서는 단체별 통계지표의 중복 문제 해결, 전 세계의 통계.자료 수집을 위한 효율적 방안 모색, 통계.지표에 기반 한 정책수립 의지가 선결되어야 한다.

This study started with the idea that Kukkiwon, WTF, KTA, and TPF should produce precise statistic indicators about Taekwondo for the utilization of frontline leaders, researchers, policy makers and industrial workers. The results are as followings. First, total of 61 statistics and indicators can be produced by Kukkiwon with including the status of Taekwondo distribution by country. Second, total of 33 statistics and indicators can be produced by the WTF with including the ranking status. Third, total of 41 statistics and indicators can be produced by the KTA with including the number of Taekwondo employees (by region) in Korea. Fourth, total of 23 statistics and indicators can be produced by the TPF with including the status of various support projects for promoting Taekwondo. However, in order to facilitate the production of statistics and indicators from each organization, it is necessary to resolve the duplication problem of statistical and indicators for each organization, to find effective measures to collect statistical data from all over the world, and to establish policies based on statistics and indicators.
