(7권 4호) 한국의 태권도 도장수 증감에 관한 종단연구_이재돈

본 연구에서는 한국의 태권도 도장수 증감이라는 주제를 선정하고, 문화체육관광부에서 발간한 지표를 기준으로 하여 연도별로, 그리고 지역별로 증감 추세를 분석함으로써 태권도 보급현황을 정확히 이해하고자 하였다. 분석의 결과 다음과 같은 유의미한 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 한국의 태권도 도장보급 현황은 대체적으로 성숙기에 해당한다고 평가할 수 있다. 둘째, 도장의 분포를 권역별로 비교한다면, 수도권(서울, 경기, 인천)에 49.3%의 도장이 소재하고 있으며, 동남권(경북, 경남, 부산, 대구)에 23.4%, 중부권(강원, 충북, 충남, 대전)에 12.6%, 서남권(전북, 전남,광주)에 10.8%, 제주권에 1.2%의 비율로 분포하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 지역별 도장수의 증감 형태는 세 가지로 나타났다. 즉 지속적으로 증가하고 있는 형태, 정점을 찍고 감소를 하는 형태, 증감을 반복하여 증감이 모호한 형태로 구분할 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구와 같이 각 국가별태권도 연구자들이 해당 국가의 태권도 도장수에 대한 증감 추세를 비교하는 연구가 수행되기를 희망한다.

The aim of this study is to analyze the increasing and decreasing trends in the number of taekwondo dojangs (schools), and to better understand the spread of taekwondo by year and by region using the indicators published by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST). The results are as follows. First, the spread of taekwondo in Korea is evaluated as being in its maturity. Second, the distribution of dojangs by zones show that 49.3% of the dojangs are located in the capital area of Korea, 23.4% are located in southeastern area, 12.6% are located in central area, 10.8% are located in southwestern area, and 1.2% are located in the Jeju island area. Third, there are three types of increases and decreases in the numbers of local dojangs: continuously increasing, the reduced form of taking a vertex, and an ambiguous form of repeated increases and decreases. Therefore, my hope is that other taekwondo researchers will study the respective trends in their own countries, helping to establish the distribution of taekwondo worldwide.
