(2권 1호) 당수의 중국 기원설에 대한 재논의_김영만ㆍ김용범

본 연구는 당수의 중국 기원설에 대한 재논의를 통해 태권도의 정체성 정립에 일조하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이에 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 고려 삼별초의 오키나와 유입이 이루어진 것으로 유추되며, 1392년 중국의 푸 지엔(福建)주민의 유구 이주 시에 도수 무예를 익혔던 이들 중의 일부가 오키나와테(당수)의 발달에 이바지했다는 가설보다 앞서고 있다. 둘째, 고려 삼별초 무인 군단의 오키나와 유입설은 일본에서 찾아볼 수 없는 다양한 우리나라 문화와 생활습속의 유사성이 오키나와에서 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 당(唐)은 우리나라를 의미하는 것으로 볼 수 있으며, 삼별초 무인 군단으로부터 오키나와에 전해진 ‘수박(手搏) 기원설’이 더 긴밀한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 당수가 일본보다 우리 민족과 특별한 친연성(親緣性) 있다. 이상의 내용을 통해 당수(唐手)의 기원설에 대하여 당수라는 원래의 의미를 되찾음으로써 중국기원설이라기보다 중국 혼입설이라는 표현이 합리적이며 기존의 중국 기원설은 고려의 ‘수박 기원설’로 대체되어야 할 것이다.

The purpose of this research is to contribute to establishing the identity of Taekwondo through rediscussion of the Chinese origin of Dangsu. The results are as follows: first, it is assumed that there has been influx of Okinawa of Goryeo Sambyeolcho, and this precedes the assumption that in 1392, some of the people who learned bare hands martial arts in Fujiyen in China contributed to the development of Dangsu. Second, the theory of origination from Goryeo Sambyeolcho military group has its similiarity of living practices of various Korean cultures; and third, it seems that dang means Korea, and the 'Subak' origination theory which was handed from military group of Sambyeolcho to Okinawa has a more close relationship. Fourth, Dangsu has more similarity with Korea with our people compared to Japan. Based on these facts, China origin theory should be substituted to China influx theory by recovering the original meaning of Dangsu, and the existing Chinese origin theory must be substituted to 'Subak origination theory'.
